My 21st Bday Celebration~

Yeay, It's my first attempt using my resource room's pc to blog, lol.
Time check: 1.35 I have got till 2pm, fast!

It's quite unbelievable to think that I've actually done it.

I actually got about 40 guest into my place and celebrated for my turning to 21!

Heez, yea reading from the prev entry, yes it was decided to be at my place. I must really thank my family esp my dad and mum who did practically everything, I only pasted the erm "happy Birthday" deco on the board..

I invited my sec sch frens, my mentoring and aqua mates, and religious frens, well i guess they are like the closest to me to count from :)

I got the catering from foyouyuan, on top of manyxmany add-ons by my mum. Long beforehand I have been anticipating the fabulous delights, but..know what

i had a test on wed nite, stayed up late to find way to view smtg in need, in the end the stress plus lack to sleep resulted in fever. I knew i wasnt well, but stil cont to go work till 11am, then i feel that i better visit the doc, cant push till evening le.. The nurse sent me straight to the fever room after my temp read 38.6 (Im like, wow am i so strong or this's how it just feels on a high fever?!)

Laid on bed in misery(it was v tough) till sat morning, where i reported to Work again, Sch Practical in the noon, and my arranged BIRTHDAY Celebration at night!
I felt crazy at every tot of this, when my body wanted Rest... So i cant walk too fast as i'll feel giddy, and i kept my spirits up thru the day and night. So in the end i only bed at 2am. for a recovering patient..

Ya, i got fever back on the sunday, cant go for Class..... and it has been 2 months straight that im absent!! haix, and it's abt the same reason for last month too.. Now then i think i hadnt got to recover fully, it's likely a relapse.. poor me for the agonising pain of fever...

Anw, Im really happy that i got to invite so many of my beloooved people who had showered care over these years :) Thank you all so much, without u, i wont had come this far :)

Year 2011 is one in which the babies of my year turns 21~
As expected the invitations line up the year every month, today i'll be attending my cousin's at Bt Panjang, the area with a lake.

That park holds many of my childhood memory with the greenary and water.
Nice place, a CC has been built at the border, with a glass-walled function room extending out above to the lake.

In fact, i've started making tots on how i'm planning mine, or actually deciding if im going to do it :)
Quite surprised that my dad was the one to approached me and ask if i want to make one wor..
Cos actually my family dun really make moves in celebrating b'days, and esp me, who dun quite like to celebrate a Birthday.

But, this time round i have a urge, the tot of taking the opportunity to express gratitude for the love by all, and to simply treat ppl to eat and be merry!

I'm thinking of the guest list, that is how big the extent of guest i can invite.. I tot of using another venue with the cap to hold the no of ppl, but back again the most convenient place is at my house.
I really wish i can order and cater, i just to minimise the trouble of everyone la, esp my parents, but well my mum seem to want to cook smtg, initially she ask me to give that $500 to her to prepare herself for even better food.. Nope not my point, i'll try to make catering possible : )

LOL it's October!!

let me count the monthss I've lefted the blog empty and entry-less.

Haha i shall blogg again! lol as it simply means i've got time to spare!~

Well previously after graduating finally in May, I had been thinking a lot, weighing priorities between a new career or education. Honestly I dun want to 'just-study', I really tot I'll regret in devoting 4 more years of time as a full-time student.. AND i really like the idea getting real, taking a place in the reality, society, the moving world. It's not about somewhat trying to break free, thinking that one is matured enough, ready to face anything that comes, i dunno. My point is, i really like to be working. (or i really dun-like studying?? lol)

Some of my frens I've heard missed school shortly after we graduate. Till now i hadn't actually. It has been for half a year, and i think i still wont, for the near future. The idea hadn't been that strong, but it has now been clear to me that, my study is more of reaching for the paper (that cert. that degree.)

Yea, the nect thing is, I've embarked on the next step in my education, a degree : )
It's by Uni Western Australia, Bachelor of Science, Biomedical Science. Rmb i said, I dun wanna "just-study"? Yea so I'm doing it part-time. In general, I've got lesson 3-4 times a week, each for abt 3 hrs falling at night and on saturdays.
Taking exemptions into considerations, I arranged to shuffle modules forward, so the first module I'm having currently is a year 2 molecular bio. I guess i shld be the youngest shld there be no others like me, who start studying straight after graduating. Actually i tot this shld be the case, but my senior said hardly anyone would do that so fast. And I tot i could be the minorities working and studying, but apparently there are like 5 colleages in my lab, undertaking the same degree in the same school. I'm classmates with 2, who are in their second year already.

Yup, this idea sounds quite incredible to me initially. I was preparing to get knock-outs for the stress coming from both work and school. But at the point of the 4th week of module 1, heez life's good :)

Haha, I hope i wont flank or smtg in school, for being too laid back : )

I'm totally greatful to have the chance working, in this dept~

Histopathology, Department of Pathology, Laboratory Technologist

Histo means tissues, pathology means diagnosis of diseases. So histopathology means diagnosis of diseases with tissues.

Basically, what we do is that the specimens are sent from the operating theatres to us. We wont get to have contact with the patient, only seeing the parts that's has been taken. Any parts or the body could be possible, but my dept does on living patients so they aren't the whole of vital organs or so. Bodies are in-charged by the others (Health Science Authority i think, forensics)

Yea the pathologist will further work on the specimen to get the specific pieces. We assist them, and process these specimens in parrafin blocks and stain and make it into microscopic slides to send it back to the doctors to read and write their report on.

其实，本人觉得，人也该适当地活得“还有明天”。

因为只有在乎未来的自己，在会在此刻的当下付出，才有动力奋斗。

I look the same i think, have 3 years passed?

Yet there're faint vague memories as i took my last walk in the school heading home. As a student of Singapore Poly..

I still feel a little like everyday, oh work, oh school tmr, oh when's exams..

Yet, i wont have to, anymore. I dun get to.

I like candies, it gives the sweet taste of bliss and a momentary sense of happiness ~

The same experience does occur at times too, when girls start saying "So sweeet.." and guys say "wow.. goosebumps..."

Ok, took a breather trying to look up for a song that was played by one of a group in a dance competition. They obtained 49/50, a record for the competition till that point. Well im not sure who's the winner at the end, but this particular group lefted me a great impression of how one combines movement which melody that simply sends people flapping their imaginary "angelic" wings to the palate of first-love..

The legendary Final Year Project that marks a compulsory, unavoidable assessment in almost all courses in SP. Well FYP sounded like a horror for many when we were in year 1s n 2s. Hearing seniors turning zombies for their reports, the panel of lecturers for presentation with grilling qns...

Well time just flies and in days time tt's my report submission and in weeks time it shall be my turn for the.. ordeal?

Ai, everyone has to go through this to get the diploma, the same reasoning with O's, A's, any course apparently, and NS too. If people, and so many of them flew over safely and soundly and intactly, i see no reason why we cant too la.

Im writing now as i've got a feeling my pen (the blogging 'pen') will be rested till my report, presentation, and even the last semestral exam are cleared. That will then be in.... 1st week of march?

Haha, date now's 3rd Jan 10, and im foreseeing till mar le. Really this Jan and Feb will be one of the impactful times.

Im getting gan-jiong as my schedule book flips so quickly week by week!

Everyday is a step closer to my crossroad at this point. The last major one would getting O's. The good thing is that, i know that i wouldn't be doing too badly even on any of the routes. I hope. Just a matter of Time, 1st salary, and i guess Experience.

School's starting next week, 6 weeks passed not as fast as what many other mates shld have tot. Perhaps when you did many diff things, the time seemed to be more fulfilling, so recalling back makes me think that 6 weeks has been quite long with many things done... : )

I'm happy that i got a portion of entertainment in the hols! That will be completing 56 episodes 2008 Korea's Big Hit, EAST OF EDEN !

I've got to say, the plot of the drama is has even more meaning than the fancy BBF : )

Originally, East of Eden was an award-winning novel, published 1952, set in the times in US after WWI.
Later it got made into a film.
Yea, very dramatically depicting all the intertwined relationships.

With the prior background of how East of Eden started, I began the Korean version.

The plot was very different from the real story, kept me thinking about the connection of its title to the novel.

A short summary of the show was that, a nurse sought revenge on a man, Tae Hwan, by swapping his son with another baby. Tae Hwan killed Gi Chul, the father of this other newborn and Dong Chul.

Dong Chul knew about it and grew up with his brother Dong Wook (his dad's murderer's son), both with revenge in head. In order to take Tae Hwan by law, Dong Wook studied v hard and made his way as the top student to enrol into Law in Seoul Uni.

Tae Hwan groomed his son Myung Hun as his successor of their big construction company.

So, what happen when Dong Wook found out that the person he has been working so hard to crush down is his father, with that man's blood in him?

That part really sad uh, dejected and feeling of unacceptance from the brother he has been dearly attached to...

It's only at the the very last part that the director make clear of the plot as "East of Eden"..

For things that touched me, I count that as a success and i like it : )

I simply awed by no. 5!
No. 4 was a good material to start with, so his change wasn't as drastic as 5. Krauser was quite a scare, but never can i imagined he could look so normally great, can't make myself to bring the two diff characters tgt.

yO, looks like i've got to blow some dust off my stagnant bloggie~

Ok, im in midst of my mid term vacation for 3 weeks, starting from 8th to 26th jun.
It's week 2 day 3 today, but i've already been going back to sch for 8/10 days.
Yea, i've got to give another concept of vacation to mummy, who was accepting that it simply means no lesson, but not no other many other stuffs..

I've been going to the lab to work on my final year project from 9-4 for 7 of the days (one was for the Annual General Meeting.. )

Im truly happy to have two new comers to the lab, as part of their exchange/attachment.
One is from Harvard Uni, the other from Washington Uni.
No worries for the big swine flu hit that is epidemic in the US now. Apparently we are all very healthy, and i personally dun take the virus to heart, cos this time round though its virulent, the effects aren't that fatal, as compared to SARS..

My research assistant Cui xia told us that they are 19 and 20, but forgot who is which.
That really sets me pondering on the difference between us, you see.. for someone turning 19 in days..
泄气...

We happened to have two project groups under the same project supervisor, so we're working in the same lab.
And so Dr cui allocated one person to each group, Elizabeth (who is from harvard) will be following us for 8 weeks. ^^

Heez, im lazy to state our project details, but i must say it's very new to all of us as the protocols are planned by dr cui.

Wow, it's week 6 already, and i'll be flying back soon to s'pore on next friday~

For the past weekends till now, we have went to quite a number of places, mainly with food and shopping. 6/4 Mon was QingMing festival, a public holiday in China, so we got a 3 days break for the weekend. I've heard that its Good friday and s'porean will have their 3 days break too, but sadly china doesnt have that, so i gotta come back for work tmr.. but at least its still not too bad : )

Last Sun we went to XiangYang market, the single storey undergrd megabig shopping level, again for the Nth time, to get whatever we want.

I got 3 leather belts, all 'Boss'. It looks almost like the real one in looks, texture and quality..
I keep saying to myself, three, not more than 120(rmb)
[btw 100 is abt S$20.+)

So of course the starting price was like 260 each i think, crazy enough, i say dun want. And she(shop keeper) asked how many i want, i said 看多少钱就买几个lor. (heez..)
Then i pick 2, and ask how much she wanna sell. It abt 200+ oso, still too ex.
I go pick the third one, and say 三条，120. She was like 不可以卖la.. What abt 200？
I just say, 120. Then she say 真的不可以卖啦，你一挑就挑店里最好的。。
Then i say, how much if i just take two, she say 120, and say why not three for 160?
And i just say 120. Then she say, ok, 140.
Then i sui-bian a bit, and take la!
(Actually if i tried to walk out of the shop, i can get at 120, but 20 to us is S$5, to them it mean much more, i actually xin-ruan for them most of the time at the end, so i dun push further laa )

3 belts for 140rmb, meaning, two are abt S$10.+, one abt S$8.+

Haha, honestly, and i guess many fren would have known, 99% of my stuffs (except meals when my parents aren't ard) are not bought by me. My mum always help me get all the stuff, so i have not tried bargaining before. But i think it shld be good enough le ba? Dividing the price by 5 is satisfying. Well everything here can be negiotiable, so i was trying to (play ard and) see how far can i go to fight for the lowest price they offer.

Heez, I've also helped my fren to get another belt at another shop. the starting price is at usual unacceptable, but i told my fren, no more than 60, never. (Cos that one i think Levi's, got one big piece of unique bucket, and also its my fren's budget, so i just say no more than 60 lor)

The shop keeper and my fren negotiated for quite some time, but refused to give in, so i say, we use the walk away method.
After walking 2.5 m away from the shop, they finally say 60 la. Yeay!

Heez.. There are many more cases that i chipped in and lower the price for several items, i just feel it's so interesting to lower price and see things which are closer to the limits! Lol, though the 3 of them would have already think the price offered is good enough for them, but for me, perhaps my max for everything is not as high, i will lower the prices.

In Shanghai we did a lot of jay-walking (80% of the time actually). We dun really take the colours of the traffic lights into account, but look at the vehicles moving on the road, and cross when the road is ok to cross. That why we can see the Red man right in front but still walk staight towards it.
It's not that we're trying to break rules, purposely. The thing is, a Green man doesnt mean its safe (cos all the car will still move and make all the turns they want, without giving much priority to pedestrians), and a Red man doesnt mean it is not safe (if we dun cross in the clear road, who knows when's the next time we can cross again)

Yup, and this is also a concern for the guys, who is hoping they will rmb they're back in s'pore again, and to watch for the light instead. Haha, they're not worried abt getting knocked, but more of getting fined when ppl see that.

For me, i've tot about our temperature there. Today, its 22'C, and im feeling vstuffy in the lab. Well im wearing jeans and cotton long sleeves plus a thin sports jacket. It shldnt be as bad, and luckily im not in Harbin, that place is -ve..)

Two weekends have passed, and we have went to 4 diff places, namely

Err.. Im actually reluctant to upload photos.. Cos its so ma-fan..

Hemm, Lujiazui is the place where 东方明珠 is. Blingbling is what i use to describe the night sight of the bustling city. I feel the power of man in making developments. Its pure enjoyment to look at the lights of the skyscrapers as we sat in the taxi on our way back..

The XinYang Market is a BIG single-level place where they sell LOTS of Branded stuffs, which we cant even tell if they are imitates or not.
There are lots of

Polo tees, brand Polo, Croc, Paul Smith... You can find any colour you want..
Watches, Tag Heuer, Omega, Franck Muller.. Seriously so many brands
Sunglasses, Gucci, Prada...
Handbags, lots of D&G...
Leather stuffs, like belts, handbags...
Tops, A&F....

There are quite a lot of varieties, but repeated in severals shops. The designs is quite limited as compared to Huaihai Lu. Of course, huaihai is the Orchard of Shanghai..
That's y, i didnt buy much for the 1st round for this trip, anw its Week 2 :)

We went to a shop, i guess its abt to close, so its selling at half price.

Heez.... Can u imagine that the 1st selling price of that watch was 600? Haha, i divided it by 5 yea. Lol i totally never bargain for anything b4, as i dun have to shop for my own.

The top way of bargaining i recommend is to

WALK AWAY. They will cut the price everytime u turn! haha, i think i turn 4 times, n keep saying dun really like it very much. Lol, there isnt a need to be xin-ruan. I think we are like beaming valuable customers from their view, cos the competition among so many shops is very high, what's more they are selling similar items.

VV ! It's good for us to catch the art of slashing prices fast, N tt's very fun :)

The more I know, the more i dunno

This is what i feel as im doing my attachment here, SIBS lab 1215

For the last few days since Tuesday (my 1st day of reporting), i've seen quite a number of experiments that i've not done in S'pore before.
As i follow and see the senoirs conducting their individual experiments, i dun really know the background theory, but as and when i'll ask qn like what's the function of this chemical, what effect will it does on the substrate..

Im in a cell bio laboratory, hence i'm using my knowledge from Mol. genetics and Mol.bio.
The practs are so far on proteins analysis and plasmids, DNA transfer...

The feeling is quite different as im actually understanding it all in Chinese, from all the reagents to names of processes. Names are indeed hard as many times i would know what that thing is if its in English.

Like 酶=Enzyme，质粒=Plasmid，缓冲液=Buffer

So i relying on my translation skills yea. But scientific terms are standard, so i need to use the translation site, or research it in chinese to see what it is.

And perhaps through a longer process, i can get to work harder!

I believe this place is quite prestigous, as the students around me are all 研究生
So far the situation of the 4 of us here are:

One whose supervisor keeps going off, leaving her by herself without much to follow.

One does PCR, which is not very hard but long duration per time.

One, which i find tt impressive, got assignments one after another. He gotta flip a few thick manuals, connect them and conduct the experiments on his own! Wow, i think the professor let him learn as much as he can.

Then for me, im attached to two seniors, a guy and a girl.
I really thank my prof for making arrangement with 2 person, so that i have more chances to follow them when they are doing their experiments.

The theory part is not that hard to understand, but most are new to me, so to form a better jigsaw, i gotta search it up and read on my own.

My lab people, i can say belongs to the 'Chiongster' type. They work till very late, i think later than 9pm. I can always leave anytime as early as i want, but dunno y i wish that i dun have anything to do like washing, so that i can stay with them and learn as much as possible.

For today, all ladies were given a movie ticket to catch one show, in commenmoration to 3/8 (3rd mar) Women's Day.

Most of my lab ppl didnt wanna go, but i can choose to go.
In the end i didnt, cos the other 3 fren arent invited to go, so i can only go with some ppl then. Nvm, stay in the lab~

Shanghai's food is very oily but quite nice as said by my frens. But i wonder what will happen to shanghainese who eats such heavy-tasted food everytime in the long run..

It's rainy seasons now, temp is abt 5 degree or less. But with my jacket i feel like im in a 20 degree aircon room in sg. (shld i try it w/o the jacket? xp)

Right now i was asked what experiment do i wanna do. The thing is that i never pay attention to the titles of our experiments, so i dunno how to answer when my senior asked for the past exp i've done.. Man....

Then the exp i've seen so far are new, i dun really dare to try it w/o supervision of anyone.
But two of them had started hands-on le, i only at eyes-on level..
Hemm, give me a bit more time to find more things out on what they do, then i can attempt them..

End to Exams 08/09 Sem 2

(aiyo, im so relectant n lazy to write now..)

Hemm, its fri, the last day of my last paper to exams of 08/09 Sem 2.

It marks the end of my Year 2! Shockingly, i'll be proceeding real soon as a final year student in SP.. oh man, wonder if that's good...

I haven pack my luggage for my monday's flight to Shanghai.. Everything is ready,just left the clothes selction and transfering it orderly into a big suitcase.

And i haven wrote my introductory letter too.. Haix, i just wish to watch some clips or replenish some energy lost for the past 3 hectic weeks of In-course test and exams.

It really drains the mental energy fast... So must do things that make myself happy, to boost the Positive meter back.

Coming to Shanghai, i haven feel the excitment of going to somewhere totally new n foreign. Well, guess it'll only be when i alight from the plane..

Im looking forward to an eye-broadening experience. Let me make the best out of it and enriches this part of my life where im now right in.

Haha, looks like my mum is even more tensed n worried than me. I was told to watch things out and hold my urge of doing extreme stuffs. She was refering to taking thriller rides in parks..
I mean, aiya, suan le ba, i'll see n take note k.

When im there, i also hope i get the blog v regularly. With a webcam, i can entertain curious peeps who wanna take a view of where im in. If can i'll definitely bring the cam to the window :)

Back in my MI days, i had a teacher who showed a french movie to the class. Due to the time limit, we only got to watch halfway. What's a show if its only half seen?

The impression lefted for it was deep, and 2 years after i got the chance to search for it..

Once in a (very) long while, i feel recharged when i get to appreciate things which touches me.

It about an old music teacher who got posted to a boys school that's more of a orphanage with problematic teens. They were ruled by a principal who believes in punishing for discipline.

I got to see how this teacher transformed the lifes of these boys.

The choir sang very well, and especially one talented boy has such amazing solo in parts of their songs. There isnt a need for instruments, as their voices complemented so well together..

Well, i always like to let people know whenever i encountered things which are awesome~

My word: U' wont regret watching :)

3 weeks vacation!

Whew, just done with the Mid-semestral tests, 7 papers!! Hemm, hope it wont turn to out too badly.. >< But yes, the vacation has come and heez, let's stay cheery for the X'mas~~

Btw, the OITP to Shanghai has been approved, so i'll be setting off on 2 Mar 09.
But way before that, we'll need to liason with our officer about visa, accomodations, flight and blahs.

As it is at the end of the academic year, it will be right after my two weeks of exams, before having that one weekend and off i fly to Shanghai!
And the last day there would be a friday, and again one weekend, before i start the Monday of the new academic year, as a Year 3!!

Whow, it's gonna be thrilling. Haix, years pass so fast, and especially when so many things have taken place and you actually lose count of the speed of the time.
Im already thinking about my final year in Poly as a 3rd year. It just happened so fast, a year ago i was a freshman, and next year im going to have the Final year project and ...

Jiayou ne! I dunno what future holds after graduating. dunno what i'll turn out to be.
(At the thought of it, it seems so scary~ anticipations... )
But nevertheless, im (getting?) prepared to face all possible outcomes :)

Right now, i'll do what i can, though getting fantastic grades really seem to be out of my reach... ) :

Haiya, let mi talk a little abt my Overseas Industries Training Programme.

My classmate Sushi n i has opted for e placement at Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences (which is in Shanghai)

We r still at the stage of waiting for the confirmation from the lecturers taking charge. But Mr Goh had mentioned that our chance of going there is "most probably will get it".

It'll be from 2 Mar to 17 apr 09 (7 weeks)

That region is said to be at Xu Jia Hui. I have no idea how the place is like, but based on what i've heard, it shld be urbanised n very city? I also dunno what the place has, how people move ard..

If anyone knows anything about Shanghai, u may like to tell mi more :)

Wave 13 rox!

Wave 13~

I had made a right decision, to left my house at the very last min and catch the Full dress rehearsal of our SP Soul Searching Concert, also known famously as Wave 13. The time for audience to be seated was 1230, i reached at 12.57.

Cool man!!!!

It was a solid 1hr 45mins fusion of hiphop n modern dance choreos. At the finale, i finally got the big picture of the whole crew of dancers. Our SP Convention Centre could hold more than 1000 ppl, so u shall expect the size of it's stage. And can u imagine the whole stage filled with people, standing closely side-by side?

Later i got to know that there were exactly 100 dancers, not including the instructors.

All i can say is 阵容庞大 , i can tell the amount of effort put in for it. It's definitely not easily to arrange 100 ppl to practise and making a nice piece up. What's more some moves are hard de lor!

I stayed in sch to finish some work, and when i left at 6+, audience are coming in for the Big Wave. They're sure gonna enjoy it just like i did

In them, i can see their passion for their love in Dance.
Amazing people, with such strong wills to stay on with what they believe in, what they are in love with.

Well done, SP Dance Club!

My LTC - 23-26 Sep 08

It’s Saturday today, one week before I had the same wake with some remains of fatigue from the last weekdays.

As many might have already know, I went to Ipoh from 23-26 Sep (tue-fri), with other student leaders for the Leaders Of Tomorrow aka LTC, the camp going on for years with success and good feedbacks from seniors. It’s one which enable all leaders to come together to exchange ideas, the goal of synergizing more results between clubs together in school.
(forgive my use of past n present tenses. It’s hard when u feel like tt’s e present.)

Hemm.. let me recall from that early Tuesday morning…

I packed my bag till 12am last night, and woke up at 4.30am. My heart was beating faster at the thought of going away for such an adventurous journey. All of the 50 campers and about 5 staffs set off from Kitcheners road at 7.30am (We go all the back to my starting point in the west as they used the Tuas Second link. I was =_= )

Clearing the customs, we travel on the North-South highway, straight up to Ipoh! There were mostly plantations, mountains, trees and the blue sky. The sight of the window is so different from Singapore’s traffic lights and buildings and pedestrians. Finally, we made it to IpohJ

We first arrived at the ballroom of Excelsior Hotel. It should be quite a class hotel in Ipoh town, to meet with Ipoh A who set off two days before us. (I’m in Ipoh B!). The Director of SAA Mr Liew was there, and we could really tell the difference between the two batches of campers, group of mobs (they really were, compared to us) VS sane people.
They were so noisy, and my side ate our buffet lunch peacefully.

After that, we continued upwards, up to the mountain where our MyGopeng Resort is!
The bus stopped at the foot. Most girls were arranged to go on a van, while we managed to crammed together, we saw a sight of lorry beside us. Never will I forget that scene!

It’s a lorry, filled with like 30 standing humans, all closely packed upright, tight and fit!
It’s the same like Bangladesh, where they transport labours to working sites, just that the people now are in clean proper clothings, without anyone clinging on to the bars from the outside.. The cher in my van told us our van is to Thailand, and theirs’ is to the slaughter house! If that were to be in Singapore, I dunno how the fine and imposements of the driver would be..

Once we reached, the instructor Joe briefed us, like we may find reception at the entrance area, never leave the place as we will never come back..
Then, we were told that, the electricity is out.
Which means, no lights along the lanes, toilets and canteen!

A MyGopeng resort, one of the best in the region.

Haha, that let us enjoyed our first meal, a candle-lit dinner!!

Zohan Zohan [Good Good!]

After the groups introduction, and ice-breaking games (lead by my group Zohan!), Mr Jacob knew that there is one representative from Astronomers, and he happened to be in my group! So he first asked him how many constellations/combinations of stars now. And when I raised my head in curiousity, I was TOTALLY SHOCKED!!!

The entire sky, and I mean the entire boundless dark sky, was filled with lots and lots of stars. Big, bright, small, twinkling. It does not look real at all for me who doesn’t have much chance to catch any when our sky has so much clouds.

After 1 mins, Dan Dan (this is the real name) said he could identify 5. So everyone sat on the grass and listen to him. He was holding onto a silver pen that’s a little thicker And he pointed to the sky and the light, which appears white, focused onto the stars! The “AWE” from everyone was so ke-ai, as it’s really in unison. Jacob told us later that that’s a Star pointer, and one shine on the eye would mean instant blindness. The rate in s’pore is S$100+, but from the Net it will be $80+. We cant use it anyhow or pilots can complain.

So, he told us one known as the Summer Triangle. It’s has 3 very bright stars and they form a triangle when connected. There is one Sagittarius, which looks like a tilted teapot, with teacap and its teaspout. And there’s Scorpio, stretched with a long tail.

There’s one bright star, blinking, and that’s Jupiter! The last time I saw that was on an Astronomy book. The biggest planet in our Solar system seemed so near yet so far.. And there was a big oval patch across the sky, that’s the Milky Way. They are big clusters of stars which are very far, so they look hazy and blurred.

Along his talk, there was one bright strike across the sky. I thought i was seeing, but yes, everyone caught that shooting star! Well, DanDan said, shooting stars are actually quite common, it can happen like once in half an hour, but meteor rain is different, tt’s very very rare.

(Hey this is only the first night..)

Day 2:
My group walk for about 20 mins to do our Waterfall abseiling. The first sound of the river stream thrilled us. I had done abseiling in the Sec 3 camp before, it’s a vertical wall of less than 2 storeys.

The briefing was done at the mouth of the waterfall, so all the while we had not seen the water for ourselves. When we are ready to set off, we climbed closer to see one actual demo. Then, I nearly fainted. The waterfall was constantly overwhelmed with super fast flow, and the height of it is like 5-6 storeys….
The instructor, an agile local, abseiled down in a breeze.
(Btw, abseiling means walking backward against a vertical wall, in our case, cliff with water bursting down from our face that cover your knees.)

My group was chosen and sent. The road up is..
We have to use our arm to pull the roots and legs are stretch for 3 flight of stairs. I cant don’t dare to think all the what-if, and thanks for Cheng ye who steadied mi up at some points (if not i’ll sure fall back/side ways down to the foot).

Seeing my groupmates goingtwo by two (there’s 2 route, one at the side with less water, but slipperier, and one in the middle with water that rushes up to my waist of maybe shoulders. Obviously I took the one with less water, cos I still wanna try tmr’s activity)
I got to get closer to the start. To understand what I saw, you can try going to level 6 and look down from the window. Then think about walking backwards down the wall. I simply feel so unreal, like NOO, I’m not going to do that, how’s that possible?!!
But, it’s impossible to climb downwards from that route, the only way down is here, the cliff. That’s never the matter of height, just the part on slips and knocks.

Fortunately, the more the stayed up there, I got used to the height and sound of the ferocious water. When it’s my turn, I just keep ensuring that the ropes are very steady. With the left hand in front and right hand against my back, I start to release the rope from my back, and I leaned backwards, 70’ away from the cliff in front of me. I keep releasing and walking very slowly, as I know it will be bruises and scratches, my only fear for then (For closer ones, you would know that my fear of height is not that great. Or abnormally not really that scared. In other words not scared de la!:P)

It was a huge relief to hear the voice of the instructor below. He caught me.
YEAH, I landed safely!!

After that, my group was sittin my the rocks below, waiting for all to clear. Some were enjoying the coolness (the water is really cold btw..), other were talking spa form the pressure of the waterfall.
Then , some guys talked about going for a second round. Hey, im not the only one who thought of this!

Well, I kinda hesitated, as im a non-swimmer(this is so sad), im alive right now. What if there’s mishaps in round 2? I’ll sure get scolded for “acting too smart”.

But then the kick is there!

Dan and Andrew was preparing to climb up again. I went and asked them to wait for me. Then, I grabbed the Director’s harness and start wearing!

Once again, I saw the same sight from above. Abseiled down with more caution and less fear. YEAH! At least I’ve made full use of that $110 we have paid ^^

After lunch, we went back to MyGopeng, and played Picto-smtg game. It’s the one where you draw and let mates guess. Eventually I got sent up to the other grp, the thing I need to draw was a movie, Catch Me If You Can

(Imagine all of us up in that lorry, making a 15 mins drive.

Along the mountain roads, there were leaves from the side and from the top! And to allow the people at the back to siam tgt, we practise the command "Dart!", and the whole bunch will jert downwards! It is totally hilarious and though it isnt as comfy as sittin in our vehicle, the feeling of togetherness was great.

At night, we were given a challenge to build a Water Tower, given a stack of newspaper, 2m rafia string, 3 m of scotch tape and one plastis bag. The base has to be higher than the pasa-malam chair.

My group did our's in a tall tripod, the three poles were thought by Cheng ye, the tripod was tied by me! (I felt so proud to put my campcraft into use..)

And to everyone's maze, it held 5.5l of water! The other 3 products were shorter than the chair, and one held abt 2 l, one 500ml, one collasped.

Hence my group was awarded with the most innovative group at the end! Pro uh! Thank you Zohan! :)

These was Day 2..

Day 3 was meant for Mountain Caving. One of the points covered in our pre-camp briefing was Challenge the Process. This line suits totally. The things we done are damn cool!

In the cave, when we switched all the torches off, there's no difference if my eyes are closed and opened. Im like, what? 伸手不见五指！！

Too bad we didnt take any photos in the entire 3 hr. But

I have to say there are more dangers as there isnt any safety ropes. All by our limbs. One guy asked jokingly: What if we fall down from here? Guide: That's your luck. The two chaps went quiet]

After caving, we moved to Excelsior Hotel again. This time, we are checking in for a night!!

But too bad i was down with a flu and w/o my mum, i dun dare to buy things. The night market has lots of fakes that really look like real. I wouldnt be tell the diff if i see them hanging at the brand stores.

Back in the hotel, this is when the fun starts..

We did room calling (they're foc and fun), went to played around in each others room. But it's really sad for me who's getting super tired, so i didnt talked much and when to bed early..

The next day was the cert presentation and slide show.

After that, we lefted Excelsior..

LTC is the most exciting camp ever i've went. Thumbs up!
I love the activities which is like another big step taken to growing up, and empowered to handle your own life (it's your life at stake for many times)

What more, i like the 50 ppl who went, they are really great mates to be in the team with. Perhaps when a group of great people comes tgt, many nice things will happen:)

Yo hoo~

We've had a fun time in the Mentor Outing at Sentosa on Sun.

Most of the non-GLs arrived (far too) early before the rest came, to set up the boards n look after the venue. Sadly i was one too and we enjoyed free sauna n tanning under that small shelter. The weather was simply murderous and i was fanning and covering my face all the way.
All of us were half-roasted.

Yea, the rest of the GLs and year 1 mentors finally came at 3. (As i said we shouldn't even need to come in the morning man. Just one hour before and that will do. No 2nd time pls.)

The turn-out was.. hemm.. not bad. ><

But i must say everyone had fun, and it's definitely worth coming for :)

Im looking forward to the most enriching and exciting vacation in my life till now.

To think that i actually need to print a A4 calendar of month Sep and Oct, as i'm sure i'll miss events out if i store in the phone or mini organiser.

Hemm..

My boxes are filling relatively fast, but im trying to keep it vacant as much as i can =x

30/8 Sat: School for LTC briefing in the morning, visit RSAF open house at Paya Lebar base.

31/8 Sun: Mentor outing trial @Sentosa, whole day spent under the lovely sun -_-

1/9 Mon: School for LTC briefing, back to clubhse for FOCamp games

Hoh yea!!
The 3rd semester in SP has ended.

Hemm, lesson learnt was to be consistent even when time is hard to squeeze..

When i stepped out of that exam room, i thought i should be flying all the way beyond cloud 9, but dun-understandly, there was a feeling of emptiness?

Perhaps that's because it marks an end to flippings and memorising, and also a start to many things now

Nvtheless, im still happy as dun feel that kind of pressure i had, esp the night before my molbio paper.

Whoa, if that level of mental stress was to continue for one week, i couldn't think what i may become..
I often thought that many people just claim to have depression, all because of some short term matters which are not really as bad as they seems, but i think i've got a taste of how a depression patient feels..

Dun worry, im back!!

It's time to chill a bit, before i start to work on other stuffs.
There're quite a number of things to attend to ><..

Oh yea, to A's frens, really, study hard even if u go really sian. That's so impt for you.
Show what determination determines, like i have seen from my mate, who soar like whatever from bad to the top in a year.

Study and think that actually studying is not really to tackle exams (sad that tt's S'pore), but more for broadening our knowledge and to appreciate how things goes in the world we're in.

Well, at least this small part of my attitude makes me feel slightly better in midst of the taxing studies.
(but have u ever thought about the person who found the theory or discover some facts, causing it to appear in your notes and makes everybody understand what they understood? It's like -_-

Fireworks @ Marina

It's indeed a very cool day for me today..

I got to go to Marina and view e Fireworks of one of the top firework teams. (From some international fireworks competitions if im right)

It's Team South Korea's !!!!

The whole works lasted for about 15mins +.
An un interrupted fascinating sight for a long moment, with massive surprises popping up now and then. The array of vibrance, dazzles.. These just impress everyone with astonishments at the magnificance up at the sky..

Oh ya, there was a guy proposing to his girl beside us.

Wow, the bouquet of flower is big, and he's kneeling down with so many people around.

But too bad the firework is is starting for like 15 sec, i rather not miss the top than to turn beside me. (It's their own affair after that anyway..)

At that point, my thought was that if im the lady, i'll say,
Dar, can you hold everything for a while? The fireworks is on! Just see first la.. Answer you later k? Shh... See, there!!

Hemm..

The guy is very smart to make use of the resource available at the right time, doesnt have to arrange for some private fire lightings anywhere else. And the girl cant say no if she still wants to stay longer.

Lol, the two of them went off very quickly. I reckon they moved to some other place nearby which is quieter, and carry their momerable night further.. I wish them luck! :p

The place i was at was right opposite the Marina stage for our NDP, accross the river, on a grass patch in front of the NTUC hq, with a fleets of cargos on the right. The crowd is manageable, just a couple of umbrella tops blocking a bit of my full view.

Fireworks are nice to look at. That why many wants to see it with their dear ones. Got the same awesome feeling together!
I think it is a good chance, right "ambience" for families and couples to hug after all. It's a form to appreciate them for being around..

Olympic fever

Olympics Fever

It's tuesday today, and i dun have to go to school! So my day was dedicated to the Olympic games on Ch5. It happened so that they are the events which i like!

In the morning, it was Swimming. I realised that the built of swimmers tend to be as a whole w/o those toned muscles curves. It can be "flabby" to be close. But it jus amaze people from the propelling strength the swimmers got.

Some swimmers look good, like some of the USA and France rep. The rest... i dunno.

The national anthem of USA was played for about 4 times in the morning swim alone. That's totally great and there are times where 2 medalists are both from USA, so they placed their palm over their chest and sang.

From the eyes of the champion, i can literally see

"My long awaited moment has finally came. All my utmost effort and commitment... Am i really getting it now? Wow.. This is totally incredible.."

Haha, but it should more or less be like that.

After lunch, it's Gymnastics!! Oh yea, i truly like this, for both male and female :)

The gymnasts are in groups of 4, and each of them has to complete 4 different apparatus:

Two parallel bars, one horizontal bar, two dangling rings and floor jumps.

The points of each individual will be combined together.

All the gymnasts did a good job, but im particularly touched by the China team. Each of them are of high standards, w/o major error and are always getting high pointers.

They're really Power la!

I feel so happy for them, who has made their way till now, ever since 5 years old, each and every boy has always hope for their gold medal. Harsh trainings and mental endurance are beyond what anyone else can see.

Beside seeing them, i've noticed that gymnastics is one which has a lot of sportsmen with nice looks! Lol, but this is so true for the German team, i rmbed Fabien(good skills, not bad), Someone, and Marcel(a reserve, but he is really cool)

Peiyi and I saw him on Sun for a few moments, and she like him quite a lot! Lol, i think, he looks a bit like Prince William. Not with an over-sized back but moderate shoulders and long legs. but somehow i think, this built might cause a bit of difficulty to get e right equilibrium and momentum in the swings.

Nvtheless, im sure peiyi will rmb him for a long time.. (her prince) ^^

It was our Basic care-giving talk (for all year 1s) cum Handover ceremony

A year ago, i witnessed the handover of the 7th committee. There i was, sitting there, having a sense of respect and admiration for the leaders of our club. Never have i thought about getting anything close to being like them, taking up duties and responsibilities. It just seems so not-possible. Who am I? Im not like them. I cant be.

Well, that was Then..

Taking the chance of entering their sub-comm, i've realised, was one of the big decision i've made that could change my directions in the future. With the presence of my clique, we All went in together, and i believe they would still find it incredible for everyone to reach so far and achieve so much..

Life in the sub-comm made us worked alot, and learned a lot too.

So after pulling through, we went on and proceed to the interview, and eventually made our way in to the Main comm!

And each of us got our respective postitions (with "shocks and surprises") in the new formation of our committee.

Before the handover, as they were carrying the table out, i saw our badges and manuals dedicated to the 8th committee. They were exclusively prepared by the 7th committee.

(I've heard that when the 7th took over from the 6th, they do not have these sort of guide, and they start everything from scratch..)

So, it was time to handover. The emcee started reading out names, from the School coordinators (8 of them), to Publicity Ic, Quartermaster, Membership Sec, Honorary Treasurer.

Im next on the list!

I reaffirmed myself, to make sure that i would do a good job when i've received the badge.

"Next, the suceeding Hononary Secretary, Ms {my name}"

I dunno why, but i gave a very small haix.. , and i make my way up.

(hey, a secretary's job is very tedious..)

Yea, right in front of the new mentors, Xueqing (the previous Hon. Sec) put the badge on for me, and passed the big white envelop.

(btw, My envelop has more weight than the others, cos there's 3 addtional keys in.)

Smiled, we parted and i went to meet and line up with the rest of the 8th comm.

Dear main-comm (yea friends, let's get use to call ourselves with that^)

We are now independant, hope that we will enjoy and find it fulfilling as we take our roles in the various sections.

I have lived for 18 years..

Hemm, im beginning to accept the extremes in our poly. There are some courses who are free enough for studenst to do part time. For me(directin to the course perhaps), I dun even have time to start revisions.

But yea, diff people wanna experience diff things.

Pressure stills feels nice sometimes. :)

The initial choice of taking clubs was to 'compensate' for the imcompetency in academic work, witht the thought of, if the results aren't impressive, at least the CCA part has got something to see. However, it seems like my study is picking up. This rekindles the desire to turn and grab my studies tighter. And on the other hand, it doing better for the clubs' side, which means the need for my commitment there too!

Student always face a shortage of time. Homeworks, assignments, projects, fun n entertainment, socialising, celebrations here and there, activities outside like camps, classes, CCA n clubs, many other functions we can name..

Though we are complaining about the misery of the time allocation that's not the way we want it tto be, the vibrancy and excitment is great and tt's the envy of the working adults.

As working adults, they are waitin for time to pass instead. The faster the merrier rite? The life they face would be more routined as Work is the major component.. Dull is the word.. Facing the same stuffs for decades is sad.. Facing weird people is even worse..

I've went for a prior briefing to our Industrial Training Programme. This has been around in SP for years, and it's compulsory for every student if you wanna graduate. It will be for 8 weeks!

In my course, there are local or overseas ones.

Local: Hospitals, research labs, research companies, Biopolis!, and other research institutes
Adv: There're chances whereby they really appreciate the partnership and call the student up for empolyment after graduating. In other words, one can save the trouble for seeking jobs.

Overseas:

Thailand [A uni or a BIOTEC-- An established agro research institute]

Adv: The cheapest of them all. My cher say we can live like a king. The people are very nice, take good care of us.

Disadv: Ulu, mosquitoes?, super congested traffics, scared of the food there ><
Cost: S$ 1000 max (tt's w/o subsidies. The final payment would be less than $5o0)

Shanghai [A research institute]

Adv: Developing, bustling city, fabulous food and shopping! (hey, we have time for it too), Heard that this shanghai one is special as the institute subsidies a lot of $$, so much so we can actually have abt S$100 to spend! People treat the students well too.

Disadv: I would only consider if my shanghainese mate is joining me. There's no way i can survive there in the winter without knowing the roads and way of life. Scared kanna con. ><

Cost: ~$2500 ( but should be less than $500 too if the info from my fren's senior is reliable)

Australia [Flinders' University , Melbourne uni (pending)]

Adv: I have friend who's a Flinders-to-be in January, and my family knows their family since i was born, before they migrated there. It's so coincidental for them to live there. I've asked the girl, and she said her dad is Ok to put me up for my ITP. Heyhey~ Accomodation and perhaps food settled as the two Dads can discuss abt the cost to pay for me. So everything would be better to have people to depend on esp when i need help +)

Disadv: The expenses lor.. ><
Cher say, in Thailand you can live like a king, in Shanghai you are not bad, in Australia, you can.. survive.
The things there are ex, so i will need $$. And cher oso say, in Thailand you are pampered, in Shanghai you live well, in Australia, they leave you to yourself.

What should i choose??

Cos if im taking local, i'll prefer to do it in Sep, our 1st vacation. If i want to do overseas, i'll have to wait for the second holiday in Jan 09. Sep is not far from now, so have to think about it properly and have a gauge of which is my choice.

Well, i've talk to Dad, looks like he's into Australia and Shanghai (like daughter like dad or is it the other way round) He say it's up to what i choose. He supports anything, and what i find it amazing was, he told me not to worry about the cost! Wow.. incredible.
But that means i really have to decide on my on..

Hip Hip!!!

Well done everybody, our hardwork has paid off once again!

I love our nightwalk, miss our Milo and my durian cream biscuits, and the joy from everyone! Though i couldnt join any games, we felt great that each participant enjoyed the event :)

Hemm...

My job as the treasurer is seriously nothing compared to the secretary Naziah, who had been pacing to and fro, from the bunk to the clubhse when ever campers signed out. The journey is really far, cos Business blocks are on that 'mountain' so, to get there, everyone has to climb the long slope. Cant imagine how she manage to do it like once in an hour.

If im in her shoes, I'll want to lie on the road, and start turning and rolling down the slope to save energy. I'll also curse and swear the school for not building a elevator that links to the row of clubhouses, that is at LEVEL 3!!

It's like a marathon, super exhausting. Now i wish that SP should be much smaller n closer. ><

Oh yea, we must give credits to the Duper Hyper GLs!!! They set the campers on, and this is vital for the camp to have the right camp 'atmosphere', where they are ready to participate and chiong and fight for victory.

Good job for Daniel and Lilian, the Camp Chair and Vice. They have put in a lot alot of effort and thoughts in overseeing the planning of each section of the camp.

Let me countdown to Vesak Day, 19 May 08.
It marks the end of my FOCs..

I will be attending swimming lessons on next thurs for the rest of 8 weeks!
My mum was asking if Im having enough with so many extra activities..

hemm.. The last formal swimming lesson i had was... 9 years ago.
Haix, it's all the coach fault k.. All his fault.. ><

Some reason for my need to know how to swim:

1) Reduce the chance of me getting a or smtg on my death cert.
(though i know 90% of drowned victims are swimmers..
Perhaps when they have the capability to get closer to water, the risk of dying due to it is higher too. But.. I just wanna learn so that i can:

WEE!! My friends who went along to A'famosa and Sunway Lagoon will understand it :P
Here comes the part when i say my Looks can be deceiving, and it is indeed quite shocking for many when they see my "spontaneity" to everything i see.

A guy actually asked the explanation of me being so bold in this aspect. How did I do that?

I dunno know myself, but i know my mum freaks out even on the kiddy coaster with a little hump on the circuit track (it's a good way to doze off in my case). She just says im mad and insane..
Then my dad dares to catch insects (and told us to open our mouths), but I dun have the chance to try with him and test his courage yet..

Going by hereditary, it's frm dad i guess. And with amplifications x many times.

(But, i do have a lot more stuffs with i really cant take,
like ticklism, flying insects..
horror shows (shit laa.. cant believe im not ready for their sudden shocks.. Have to cover 70% of my eyes and the bit left to catch the corners of the screen)

I didnt get to see the beginning of the programme, like the hunt and the hiphop from our Dance and Cheer club, cos we were so busy preparing our skit that's coming up close..

Lol, everyone of us got so tensed up and Daniel was actually moving and swaying on the spot to ease himself. Well, he's part of the main lead, so tt explains, but really good job everyone, for making up the Twisted Ending!

Hmm, the highlight of the night was the truth or dare. It so funny to see two guys eating a banana together from the two ends, those huggings, role play on the spot... And the last couple was so lucky to have a dare to kiss 5 parts on the face~

Heez, after the nose, forehead, hand, they tried to negiotiate and, alrite, the guy has to kiss on the cheek and hold for 10 seconds~

Btw, this guy from Ngee Ann is a friend of one of the seniors. When you use just your ears, you'll think u're tuning to some eng FM station! He's really great at his reactions and words. Like it a lot..

Do you know that it's really interesting to listen to 'yellow' jokes in a non-low class manner? It's like having amusement without feeling any 'humilation' as some may feel. Tt's why i really find this Matthew.. attractive in a sense that he manage to catch my attention.. ^^

He voice is a little course, pitching is there throughout and not 'hay-wire' (it's a difficulty for many out there)

Haha.. Some people doesnt really look so good like stars, but they have that special element which grabs attention uncontrollably (so envious..)
I guess Matthew is a popular kid from young.

I always like to imagine the way a upcoming event would be ending, but the aqua FOC is one of those i wouldnt even wanna think too much, cos the single thought of it makes me shake my head..

Talents (and perhaps efficient leaders) are just not easy to find.

I watched Koizora~~

Sweet and melancholy..

The initial part was quite dramatic with many events taking place one after another, lack some bit of convince. The guy looks very good in the show, and the contrast between the white hair and the tanned tone is a thumbs up. The girl appears innocent though, but seems like u can't tell too much from the appearance nowadays..
Nevertheless she sweetens everything =)

The part that touches my heart was at (following the chi subtitles)

Girl: 你幸福过吗？

Guy: 我曾经很幸福过

我永远不再想你了

It looks meaningless when you read out w/o watching,
But tt's the part which has effect on me...

hemm..
Shld i use the word 凄美？
it's definitely 美...

Nice show, right background that truly shows what a high school love story would be like.
